Photo Size for MyGov and Other Malaysian Online Forms

Get your photo to the size an online form asks for: 35 x 50 mm passport size, exact pixels or a KB limit. Crop and shrink it free in your browser.

Government and job portals often reject a photo because it is the wrong shape or too large a file. Each MyGov service and online form sets its own rules, so start with what your form says. Then use the free tools below to crop and shrink the photo on your phone or computer, without uploading it anywhere.

Converting millimetres to pixels: at 300 dpi, 35 x 50 mm is about 413 x 591 pixels.

Step by step

  1. Take a photo against a plain white or light wall, facing the camera, in even light.
  2. Open Image Resizer and choose 35x50 Passport. Position the crop so your head and the top of your shoulders fill most of the frame, then download.
  3. If there is a KB limit, open Compress Image, add the cropped photo and lower the quality until the size shown is under the limit.
  4. If the form wants a PDF instead of a photo, use Image to PDF.

Common reasons a photo is rejected

  • The file is over the KB limit.
  • The photo is a screenshot with phone bars or a border around it.
  • The background is busy or has strong shadows.
  • The file type is wrong, such as HEIC from an iPhone. See converting iPhone HEIC photos.
